Teen Ranch is home for the Dufferin-Peel Skating Club, a proud member of Skate Canada and one of the largest and most progressive skating associations in the world. A competitive skating club, with members between 150 and 300 that skate year-round, Dufferin-Peel continues to serve its customers in this fast changing sport. Teen Ranch is a unique facility due to our magnificent cathedral ceilings and 100 by 200 foot Olympic size ice surface that relieves any space limitations you may have felt before. Large, well-lit dressing rooms, a clean snack bar, a pleasant lobby area, and comfortable seating round out this exceptional facility. Equipment available for skater's use includes an exceptional sound system, with ice level control of audio tapes and CD's.

Membership (MB)

Club Membership is required for each skater to participate in any of our skating programs. This fee is sent to Skate Canada to cover insurance, test certificates, program development, NCCP certification of coaches and a national registry of skating qualifications (tests) and results (for qualifying events). Our skating programs are offered in semesters of approx 10 weeks. Skaters can try a program for a single semester, or pre-register for any number of semesters in advance.

  • Complete a membership form for each skater, a member ship form must be completed before registering for any programs. (This is only required once for the skating season.)
  • Complete a Program Registration form for each skater. Clearly indicate the program (CS, FS, DS), semester(s) and day(s) in the Program Details area. Please include the membership fee (MB) if this is the first program registration of the 2012/2013 season. One form can be used for several programs and semesters.
  • Make payment. Payment can be made at the Teen Ranch Ice Corral office. Cash, cheques, VISA, MasterCard and American Express are all accepted. Payment must be made in full prior to the start of the program/semester.

Programs Include:

CanSkate (CS)

Mondays 6:00pm - 6:50pm (Semesters 1 - 3)
Fridays 6:00pm - 6:50pm (Semesters 1 - 3)

This 50 minute learn-to skate program is designed for skaters 3 and older. The basics of forward and backward skating, stopping, turning, spinning and jumping are taught. Skaters are grouped by age, ability and area of interest: figure skating, hockey or pleasure skating. Skaters are evaluated regularly and progress through the six stages at their own pace. Successful completion at each stage results in a badge. Regular progress reports, badges, incentives and fun days are enjoyed by participants. The coach-to-student ratio is no more than 1:8, and all classes are taught by certified Skate Canada professional coaches and assisted by trained volunteer skaters. Hockey Interest Option CanSkate Program participants that have a good level of forward skating, backward skating & stops will be grouped together and continue learning in the CanSkate Program with lessons focused on skating skills, drills and exercises to enhance their skating skills for hockey. Many successful house league and "Rep" players have completed the Dufferin-Peel CanSkate Program over the years. The small group instruction aids in the development of more difficult skills such as balance and crosscuts and also teaches good listening skills. The CanSkate Program is great combined with other hockey & power skating courses.

**** A CSA approved helmet must be worn, skaters will not be allowed on the ice if they do not have a proper helmet.

A program designed for skaters who have accomplished the fundamentals of figure skating and wish to advance their skills in the Skate Canada National STARSkate and/or Competitive Skate streams. In this unique training system, each skater has a custom designed program to compliment his or her specific skating goals. Programs will include private, semi-private and group lessons, and an Off-Ice Strengthening and Jump class. Ballet class is highly recommended, especially for Competitive Skate members. It is recommended that skaters at this level train at least three times a week or more for maximum success. The program may be supplemented by additional practice ice and/or lessons. This exciting program has been instrumental in the success of Dufferin-Peel's many gold test medalists and sectional to national competitors! It makes training time more effective, keeps skating fun, and saves money!

Dedication program skaters who volunteer as CanSkate Program Assistants may skate on any one of the weekday Dedication sessions at no additional cost (Dedication Skaters are required to register for a minimum of 2 sessions/week, not including the extra weekday for volunteering).
